Corbin Carroll – Diamondbacks Carroll told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic he had NanoNeedle surgery to remove loose bodies from his right (non-throwing) elbow; his offseason swing program slides about two weeks into December, otherwise a normal winter. Carroll said his lower back was more of an issue than the elbow in 2026 and is a focus before next season. Jacob Young – Nationals Washington agreed to a four-year, $23 million extension with an $8 million fifth-year club option, buying out his arbitration years and first free-agent year (Robert Murray; confirmed by Mark Zuckerman). Young hit .252/.318/.390 with 18 steals in 22 tries in 2026, locking in his everyday center-field role. Spencer Strider – Braves Mark Bowman reports the Braves say Strider will be a full go at the start of Spring Training after his June elbow injury, but Bowman cautions durability as a five-plus-inning starter is uncertain after two UCL surgeries. Bowman’s projected 2027 rotation group lists Strider among depth options rather than a locked starter. Spencer Schwellenbach – Braves Schwellenbach had September surgery placing a screw in the elbow he fractured in 2025, and Bowman writes Atlanta cannot confidently project him as an integral 2027 rotation piece. Didier Fuentes – Braves Atlanta will stretch the 21-year-old out as a starter in Spring Training before deciding his role; if he makes the rotation he likely would be capped around 120–130 innings after a professional-high 80 1/3 in 2026 (Bowman). Spencer Jones – Yankees Bryan Hoch writes Jones “could get a real opportunity in center field” with Trent Grisham not expected back, while Jasson Domínguez “may be a prime change-of-scenery candidate.” Hoch also says Cashman called the DH spot “up for grabs” and the club would benefit from keeping Ben Rice’s catching in play. Robert Stock – Mets New York re-signed Stock to a one-year split major-league contract. Anthony DiComo notes he spent September in the rotation flashing plus velocity after thoracic outlet surgery but probably profiles more as a bullpen option long-term. [Source: x.com](https://x.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/2118804914461917578?ref=mlbdatawarehouse.com) ### 8\. José Tena – Guardians Cleveland claimed Tena off waivers from Washington. He is out of minor-league options, so he must make the 2027 roster or be designated again; he struck out 31.3% of the time in a career-high 288 plate appearances in 2026. [Source: mlbtraderumors.com](https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/11/guardians-claim-jose-tena.html?ref=mlbdatawarehouse.com) ### 9\. Reiver Sanmartin – Nationals Washington acquired the left-hander from San Francisco for minor-league right-hander Robert Cranz and designated Kyle Nicolas for assignment to clear a 40-man spot (Mark Zuckerman; Susan Slusser). Sanmartin had a 4.22 ERA and 63.8% ground-ball rate in 21 1/3 innings and is out of options. Zack Kelly – Free agent (ex-Red Sox) Kelly cleared outright waivers and is expected to become a free agent, Chris Cotillo reported. A right-elbow fracture ended his 2026 after 16 1/3 innings (3.31 ERA); his recovery timeline is not yet clear and he is out of options. Hobie Harris – Royals Kansas City signed the right-hander to a minor-league deal with a big-league camp invite (Ari Alexander via MLB Trade Rumors). Harris returned from a first-half injury to post a 2.55 ERA in 24 2/3 Triple-A innings but walked more than 15% of batters.
