A New Year for MLB Data Warehouse
Welcoming everybody to 2026 and going over all of the new stuff happening at MLB DW!
The holidays are insane, man, especially for me. I have two kids and a wife with December birthdays, and three parts of my family are still back in Pennsylvania. So from Christmas through today, it’s been non-stop. We went back to Pittsburgh to see some of my wife’s family, and then the day we came back, my family came out to do the holiday stuff at our house. They’re still here. It feels like I haven’t had a quiet minute to myself for a month.
Complaining aside, welcome to 2026. The people’s attention really starts to turn to fantasy baseball around this time, and the new subscribers are already starting to roll in. It’s always an exciting and busy couple of months leading into March when fantasy draft season fully kicks off. There will be a ton of content coming, both written and in podcast form.
So let’s get everybody up to speed on the main things going on at MLB DW right now.
The Podcast
You can search “MLB Data Warehouse” on Spotify or Apple to subscribe to that. You can also just use the Substack app, as all of my podcasts are posted here directly. The app has a nice media player.
The ADP Dashboard
Check it out here. It’s free for all to use since it’s NFBC’s data. I’ll be adding Rotowire Online Championship data to that soon, and I will be getting the auction values in there as well once those drafts start ripping. It’s a great tool to use when drafting, and it's always fun to follow the trends on certain players while time goes on and things change.
The Other Dashboards
One of the things that got this whole business started was my MLB Tableau Dashboards. The details are too much to get into here. I’m overdue for another tutorial video or ten, but this is a “trust me bro” situation. The dashboards are incredible. Advanced MLB stats, full minor league data… basically the only resource you need if you’re into MLB analytics.
Become a paid sub and hit the Resource Glossary, the links are all there. Start clicking around (I recommend you don’t do that on a phone, use a tablet or PC - the bigger the screen, the better). I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
The Team Previews
I’ve written more than two-thirds of the team previews now as I attempt to finish them by February 1st. The initial plan was to have them done by February 28th, but the sooner the better so I can focus on the main fantasy draft content.
They’re mostly behind the paywall. Read them here.
The 2026 Projections
The Bat 2026 projections were just realized this week, so that’s exciting. But my projections have been out since November, baby! You’ll have to be a paid subscriber to access them via the web app. But here’s a quick look:
You have my projections there along with Steamer and the Bat, and we’ll get the other systems up there as they come out. Sortable, searchable, exportable.
There’s also an auction value calculator on the app that you can use to get target dollar values using my projections. If you’d rather use another projection system, I’d recommend just using the FanGraphs auction calculator. It’s more tried and true and has more functionality than mine.
How good are my projections, you ask? I would love to lie and tell you that hands down, mine are the best. That I have the secret formula, that mine are modern and better and more advanced than the other dinosaur systems.
But that wouldn’t be true, or at least I wouldn’t be saying that with true confidence. I’ve backtested my system against the others, and it’s competitive, but I don’t think any kind of testing would give me the gold medal.
What I found when I looked is that for hitters, me and The Bat X are better than ATC and Steamer. But ATC clears us for pitching projections. The newer OOPSY system that FanGraphs has was not involved in that test.
If anybody wants my final product 2025 projections to compare with the others, I’d happily provide them. I would be interested to see how other people’s tests grade out.
I was watching this podcast with this 19-year-old dude who is a “looksmaxxer”. It’s the new lingo to put “max” at the end of words to denote that you’re going 100% fully into a thing. So this dude has done all this crazy stuff to make himself look as attractive as possible. The theory for him is that better-looking people have more opportunities in life, so if he turns himself into the best-looking dude around, he’ll have a very successful life almost automatically. It’s all vanity, no doubt. The kid is fully immersed in materialism and the fleeting pleasures of life. I don’t think any of this stuff is going to make him truly happy in the end. But I do think it’ll work (as evidenced by the fact that he’s already made podcast appearances on big shows).
The kid has gone so far as to “bone smash”. He punches himself in the face in order to give his bones microfractures so his bones grow back stronger. It’s the same with muscle-building, I guess. You break down your muscles slightly, and they grow back and end up stronger. You can do that with your bones as well. He’s also, apparently, going to have jaw surgery to bring his jaw out slightly further. Major surgery. Expensive stuff, and for what reason?
I’d be horrified if any of my children ever end up doing stuff like that, but damn if it wasn’t an interesting story.
And I say all of that to tell you that I want to become a projectionsmaxxer. I want to max the F out of my projections. I want to be the guy, the best baseball projections dude in the world. Will it happen this year? No, I don’t think. But in 3-5 years’ time, you watch out. MLB DW is going to be the cock of the projections walks, both season-long and daily.
The daily projections are the “flagship” resource here, by the way. They’re great for DFS and prop betting and such things. This year, there’s a second paid subscription tier ot get access to them. It’s called MLB DW Pro (it was either going to be PLUS or PRO, because I decided to not be very creative). Check that out here. It’s a yearly cost, and it’s significantly more expensive than the standard monthly fee. But simply put, the daily projections with the DFS optimizer and the betting algorithms and bet grades and all of this stuff are worth a lot more than $12-$15/month.
Prospect / Dynasty Content
Tim Kanak has been crushing stuff for dynasty leagues. We’re one team away from being done with a team-by-team look at each organization’s top 20 prospects (in podcast form). Check that all out here, it’s totally free.
What’s not free are all of Tim’s ranks, which he does in all sorts of ways. Paid subs here get his top 150 with full analysis, write-ups, and fScores for each player.
But the full results of his work are for purchase for $29.99. You don’t have to be a paid subscriber to get that; just pay the one-time fee, and you’ll get all of his ranks. There are more than 700 prospects ranked in there. Not in order 1-750, but all of his team and position rankings are there.
And those are just the main things going on right now in January. The in-season stuff is even better, and we’re doing more content and more tools and resources than ever before. I write a “daily notes” post every morning going over what happened in baseball the previous day, and there’s an automated section that has recent data and leaderboards. All of that’s incredibly helpful in managing your fantasy teams in the middle of the season.
There are daily and weekly projections, which are some of the best you’ll find online. I’ve been working on those for 3-4 seasons now, and they get better every year.
It’s going to be a big year at MLB DW. I really think we’re right there with the best fantasy baseball websites on the Internet, and it’s all pretty darn cheap if you’re asking me.
So thanks for being here, and here’s to a great year ahead! God Bless!
