Adolis Garcia Searching for New Home
Texas Rangers will not tender a contract for the 2026 season to Adolis Garcia making him a free agent.
Landing spot?
There is a real shortage of RHB outfielders this winter, and Adolis becoming available adds an interesting option. Many teams are in need of a power RHB outfielder. Adolis can play an above-average right field, and if he can rekindle his 2023 self, swing an extremely productive bat.
New York Mets
Bringing Adolis to New York could make sense. As of right now, their outfield is slated to comprise (left to right) Brandon Nimmo, Tyrone Taylor, and Juan Soto. Though Adolis has mostly played RF, he could fill their DH role. Maybe focusing mainly on his plate appearances, Garcia can find his 2023 bat again.
Philadelphia Phillies
Replacing Nick Castellanos in RF makes some sense if they want to shake up the roster. Castellanos struggled defensively and spent much of the second half on the bench. Adolis can provide more pop and man right field at a respectable level.
Cincinnati Reds
Before the 2024 season began, I thought the Reds should’ve traded for Adolis to bolster their outfield. They did not, and probably for the best. There is now an opportunity for Cincinnati to sign Adolis and potentially hit 35+ homers in Great American SMALL Park.
He’s not a major headline guy, but Adolis offers enough right-handed power and steady defense to interest several clubs. Especially if he can bounce back to something close to his 2023 form. In a thin outfield market, the potential alone makes him a sensible target.
