Logan O’Hoppe
I think, in a vacuum, O’Hoppe is priced correctly. He’s at ADP 240, the 21st catcher off the board in drafts this winter. I just don’t think you should be waiting nearly this long. There are a ton of very appealing catcher options in the later rounds this year, so I’d be filling out my catcher slots before we have to start talking about O’Hoppe. This is two-catcher league talk only. But here are guys to prioritize at cost more than O’Hoppe:
Samuel Basallo (ADP 177)
Gabriel Moreno (ADP 174)
Kyle Teel (ADP 180)
Carter Jensen (ADP 200)
Dillon Dingler (ADP 218)
Tyler Stephenson (ADP 252)
Mike Trout
I didn’t think we’d be calling Trout a bust when the price is around ADP 200. But it seems to me like he’s still priced as if he’s a great hitter who just needs to stay healthy. The truth is that, in these last three seasons, he’s hit .242 with a 30% K% while stealing just ten bases (241 games). Six of those steals came ina short dash in 2024 when he was running again. The attempt rate last year was 1%. So what are you drafting Trout for, other than homers?
Why not just take Giancarlo Stanton four rounds later? They’re essentially the same dude at this point, but you could argue that Stanton is the better power hitter on a much better team.
