Back to basics, no video this time - that was kind of a mess on Tuesday! Let’s just break down the player pools in this manner.

Pitchers

I’m not clear on who the Astros starter is tonight. I have seen all of Odorizzi, Verlander, and Urquidy mentioned. If it’s Verlander (I don’t think it is), he’s in play but for now we’re operating as if it’s Odorizzi.

#1 Clayton Kershaw $9,400 vs. Angels

He’s my guy tonight. 97 pitches last time out with 10 strikeouts and 17 whiffs, and the elite matchup against the Angels, and you get a bit of a discount on him still. He’s going directly into the lineup to start things off.

#2 Alek Manoah $9,000 vs. Royals

Gausman underperformed a little bit last night against the Royals, but now Manoah gets a go at this KC lineup:

It’s a bad lineup. Manoah gets most of his strikeouts against righties (29% K% vs. 16.7%), and there are just five righties int his lineup - but when you look at those lefties I mean there’s only one imposing bad in Vinnie Paquantino. I think he’s as sure of a bet for 20 points as you can find, and the price is just right. I like the Kershaw and Manoah combo for just $18,400.

#3 Brandon Woodruff $10,200 vs. Giants

He’s probably not making my cash lineup tonight cause I want the savings on Kershaw and Manoah, but Woody is in good form and the matchup with the Giants isn’t awful.

#4 Robbie Ray $9,800 vs. Rangers

Ray’s slight inconsistency and the Rangers good marks against lefties have me off of him, but I won’t be surprised at all if Ray leads the slate in points.

In terms of cheap guys

  • Odorizzi/Urquidy vs. OAK

  • Plesac vs. DET

But yeah, I’m paying for two of the top guys since I’m a one-lineup kinda guy.

Hitters

Splits tables

Right-handed batters:

Left-handed batters:

Batter vs. Pitcher Type Clusters:

The top team spots

  • Braves vs. Corbin

  • Rockies vs. Quintana

  • Blue Jays vs. Greinke

  • Dodgers vs. Sandoval

  • Pirates vs. Marquez

I’m actually trying to stay away from the Pirates in Coors just because the offense has so little upside and Marquez has generally been “okay” in Coors for his career. This year it hasn’t gone that well for him with a .591 SLG against and just a 20.4% K%, but still I’m not going out of my way to play dudes like Vogelbach, Hayes, or Cruz.

The hitters I’m really trying to get tonight would be

  • Ronald Acuna $6,300

  • Austin Riley $5,500

  • Danby Swanson $5,600

  • William Contreras $5,400

  • C.J. Cron $5,400

  • Kris Bryant $5,700

  • George Springer $5,100

  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. $5,000

  • Teoscar Hernandez $4,300

But of course, we can probably only get 2 or 3 of them.

The cheap hitters that stand out before lineups come out are

  • Jose Iglesias $3,700

  • Daniel Vogelbach $3,400

  • Adam Duvall $3,400

  • Ramon Laureano $3,700

  • Nolan Gorman $3,000

  • Sam Huff $2,500

  • Yadiel Hernandez $2,700

  • Nolan Jones $2,000

  • Riley Greene $2,900

  • Esteury Ruiz $2,000
