First LAME daily notes of the season! We have a ton of day game action, and I had a projection model bug that took me more than an hour to fix… so I don’t have time to write much here.

Taj Bradley - though:

6.0IP 5H 0ER 0R 3K 1BB

That’s the good news. The bad news was just a 45% Strike% and only eight whiffs on those 100 pitches. That’s easy math - an 8% SwStr%. I don’t have the stuff+ numbers yet, so we can’t say that he actually threw the ball differently. But he was much less nasty following his 18.5% SwStr% debut against the Orioles.

We’ll see his teammate, Mick Abel, this weekend. We’ve been talking a lot about this group of pitchers of potential breakout SPs. These two are on that list. The other guys we’re definitely watching closely this weekend:

  • Reid Detmers (tonight vs. SEA)

  • Mike Soroka (Saturday vs. ATL)

  • Carmen Mlodzinski (Saturday vs. BAL)

  • Landen Roupp (Saturday vs. NYM)

  • Emerson Hancock (Saturday vs. LAA)

  • Randy Vasquez (Saturday vs. BOS)

  • Parker Messick (Sunday vs. CHC)

  • Kyle Harrison (Sunday vs. KC)

I think I’d bail on Reynaldo Lopez. The result was fine:

But man just 93.7 on the fastball with a 7.5% SwStr%, a 45% Strike%, and a 35% Ball%. In two starts, he has a 9.6% SwStr% and a very poor 4.65 JA ERA.

I have never thought this guy was good. So it’s possible I was wrong then and I’m still wrong now. But it’s not looking sharp for ReyLo.

On offense, the Braves went OFF after my bedtime last night. They got homers from Matt Olson, Dominic Smith, Mauricio Dubon, and Jorge Mateo. How about that! The Braves score 17 runs, and Acuna gets just one lone RBI for your fantasy team. Fantasy points from the Braves last night:

  • Olson 34

  • Dubon 23

  • Smith 18

  • Mateo 16

  • Yas 15

  • Albies 14

  • Harris II 14

  • Riley 13

  • Baldwin 11

  • Acuna 7

That’s ten players! Non-starters scored more points than Acuna last night.

Ronald is off to a bad start with a .167/.323/.208 slash line on a horrid 56% Contact%. But he’s still taking a ton of walks with a 19% BB%. That should turn into a bunch of steals, as long as he definitely does have the green light.

I think you’re going to see a ton of strikeouts from Acuna. He had a 25% K% and a 70% Contact% last year, which is worse than league average. It works just fine with his raw power, but just know that Acuna is a guy who can strike out, and that will turn into some cold streaks.

Onto this great slate of Friday games! Early baseball again.
