Blake Snell got back on the horse and delivered a 28.1% Ball%. You can imagine what the box score line looked like - marvelous: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 8 K, 1 BB. The guy is so tough in the strike zone.

He took another daily whiff crown with 20. He's now led five different days in whiffs, and he’s one of just five pitchers to have done that five or more times.
I’ve been tracking that all year on this sheet.
Shota Imanaga was excellent again, although he did give up three runs this time.
6 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 8 K, 1 BB, 16.7% SwStr%, 56.2% Strike%
The fantastic season just keeps rolling with him. He’s at a 3.14 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP on a 21.2% K-BB%.
Framber Valdez was up to the challenge again, posting another high whiff mark (15.3% SwStr%).
7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 7 K, 3 BB, 48% Strike%, 38.8% Ball%
He now has a 32.8% K% and a 7.7% BB% For a 2.08 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP in the second half.
Rhett Lowder made his Major League debut. He was the seventh overall pick in the 2023 draft. He faced the Brewers in the second half of a double header yesterday and did this:
4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 6 K, 4 BB, 13% SwStr%, 50.6% Strike%, 39% Ball%
The four walks cost him quite a bit, and he couldn’t get into the fifth inning. Here’s the pitch mix:
Lower velocity on the fastball, but a nice mix of those four pitches using everything at least 17% of the time. The sinker and slider saved him as the four-seamer was all over the place.
The Reds had a lot of games to cover this week, so they were forced to bring someone up to start. I’m not sure if Lowder will stick in the rotation. He’s somewhat interesting for 15-team leagues if he does.
Seth Lugo struck out nine. His very strong season continues.

The league average WHIP+ for an SP is 1.91. He’s at 1.70, a strong number.

He has a 26.3% K% and 9.9% BB% on the year, so he’s certainly in the streaming conversation. The WHIP+ is bad at 2.19, too many walks and extra-base hits (9.8% Brl%). But the stuff will play nicely on those nights where he has decent command (107 Stuff+, 95 Location+).
Disaster start for Taj Bradley!

The Padres are a tough matchup, no doubt, but yikes!
Bradley now since July 31st:

I would say - RUN!
George Kirby gave up five runs of his own.

He just might be the worst SP in the Mariners rotation! M’s data since July 1st:
DL Hall had a good one for the Brewers last night:
7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 5 K, 1 BB, 8.4% SwStr%, 42.2% Strike%
A 42% Strike% is really bad, but he walked just one in seven innings and that’s what we’re looking for with Hall - who has long had trouble with the walk. His season:

38.8% Ball%
He hasn’t had the whiff stuff, and that’s surprising to see. He had a massive K% in the minors, but as a starter for the Brewers that has not happened.
We can remove Hall from our minds as far as fantasy usefulness goes. That was one popular breakout SP pick this year that fell extremely flat.
I would advise you to do away with Clayton Kershaw if you’re using him.
Even when he’s pitched well, he’s been limited - and overall, he hasn’t pitched very well (18% K%, 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 2.10 WHIP+).
Even if he gets it right, he’s not going to reward you greatly for fantasy throwing 4-5 innings per outing.
