I have to stop fading Jacob Misiorowski in DFS. That’s the lesson I learned yesterday.
5.0IP 1H 1ER 1R 12K 0BB
Luckily, I was playing a couple of baseball games in the men’s league yesterday afternoon so I didn’t have to watch my lineup fail horribly.
Misiorowski threw 83 pitches (after just 65 last time), so there was still a slight limitation there. In ordinary circumstances, he would have come out for another inning. So we were right at the break thinking they’d calm down the volume. I was very, very wrong in thinking they might ask him to tone down the fastball velo. He averaged a season-high 102.8 yesterday.
66 four-seamers yesterday and 23 whiffs on that pitch. He threw it 79.5% of the time yesterday, and you can understand why! What else does the guy need? If you throw 103, do you really need to do anything else? I don’t think so! The pitch mix from yesterday:
Misiorowski takes the Brewers World Series chances to a new level. They’ve won the division a few years in a row, but they’ve always kinda limped into the playoffs without much chance due to the lack of a dominant arm in October. But now they have the most dominant arm in the league. They’re a real threat if they can get Mizz healthy into October.
Carson Whisenhunt: 5.0IP 5H 4ER 4R 7K 2BB
He was #2 on the board with 18 whiffs (tied with Rasmussen). A 23.1% SwStr% in five innigs. But the ER result wasn’t good. Whisenhunt isn’t very good with a 7.5% K-BB% and a 4.51 JA SIERA:
But the changeup is a difference-maker (29.2% SwStr% on the year) and we saw that yesterday.
Drew Rasmussen: 7.0IP 1H 0ER 0R 9K 1BB
Big bounce-back from Rasmussen after a poor stretch of starts since July. 18 whiffs, 21 outs on 87 pitches. He was doing the Rasmussen thing again.
Freddy Peralta: 4.0IP 6H 2ER 3R 3K 2BB
He could be on the move this week, right? The Mets just lost Juan Soto for a while, and they’re drawing dead on the 2026 season with a record of 44-62. What a disaster season for the Mets.
Prealta has just a 22.1% K% this year with a 9.4% BB% and a 4.83 ERA. He just gave up seven earned runs in his previous start. So it’s all bad from Peralta. Early in his career, he didn’t have a deep pitch mix but was able to get by with a very good four-seamer. But something happened to the fastball this year. It’s down to a 96 Stuff+ and a 10% SwStr% with seven homers given up. And that’s kinda why I just don’t believe in the buy-low at this point. It’s been like this all year with the heater, and that’s just not a pitch he can afford to lose.
Maybe, just maybe, he goes back to the Brewers at the deadline here? And maybe he’s just been sand-bagging the fastball so he could get BACK TO MILWAUKEE! Probably not, but it should be a very interesting trade deadline to watch for the Mets. Sounds like they want to trade basically everybody.
Cristopher Sanchez - 6.0IP 6H 3ER 3R 6K 3BB
We’re now at four straaiaght starts with multiple earned runs given up from Sanchez! His home ERA is up to 1.39! Wow!
Fastball velo has been down a bit:
Everything is seemingly fine, he’s just not pitching like a Cy Young candidate in July (7.06 ERA, 1.85 WHIP, 20% K%, 5% BB%).
Jacob deGrom: 5.0IP 7H 1ER 1R 4K 0BB
Another kind of letdown start for deGrom. Only four strikeouts in five innings, a 14.4% SwStr%. Just not prime deGrom we’re seeing lately.
It’s pretty surprising to see that deGrom has just four starts of zero ER all year long. His 3.67 ERA is fine, but not it’s not what you thought you’d get from him this year, and he continues to have a homer issue (1.3 HR/9). And now the K% is down under 30%. I’m being nitpicky here. deGrom still has a 24.2% K-BB%, which is elite, but he’s just not giving you SP1 numbers.
But who is giving you Cy Young numbers this summer, right? Let’s see!
PLAYER RATER SINCE JUNE 15TH:

Peter Lambert
Not what you would have thought! Mis is down the list just because he’s only thrown 33 innings while the leaders are in the mid-40s now in this sample.
Ronel Blanco - 5.33IP 4H 5ER 5R 4K 3BB
Plenty of people jumped on him for SP help this week, and you took a bad one on Sunday. He didn’t have the nastiness with a 12.9% SwStr%, and the ball rate was a touch high at 35.3%. I don’t think he’s good. I think the WHIP will be bad, but he can get some strikeouts with his breaking balls and maybe give the Astros a 3.60 ERA or something like that. But it’s not going to be pretty for fantasy leagues most of the time.
Braxton Ashcraft - 6.0IP 7H 4ER 4R 5K 2BB
Four more earned runs, just five strikeouts in six innings. Tougher matchup with the Cubs, and he got through six to get a win. But just a 10.8% SwStr%.
His last five starts:
Nothing terrible here. Still a 17% K-BB% with a 3.26 JA SIERA. But a 48% Hard%, eight homers, and a .293 xBA. So bad results on contact and the strikeout rate falling back to earth. Curveball is still good, slider is still fine:
But the fastball sucks now. I’m not giving up on Ashcraft, but it’s worrisome, no doubt about that.
Will Warren - 3.0IP 6H 6ER 6R 5K 2BB
Did not make his case to stay in the rotation very well. The triple sixes there and just three innings. Four whiffs. It was bad, and I think Warren is just kinda bad right now. The splits are still a big problem:
An 11% K-BB% and a .345 xwOBA given up to lefties. That remains a problem. I think he’s suited for a bullpen role where he can come in against a couple of righties and do very well.
Parker Messick - 7.67IP 6H 1ER 1R 6K 0BB
Good one for Messick! A 6:0 K:BB and awesome efficiency to get deep into the game. Messick’s season:
Very good stuff. The 25% K%, 7% BB%, and 0.79 HR/9 is about exactly what I expected. The ERA is helped by a .255 BABIP. I think he can be a solid 3.20 ERA guy for the future and a very valuable arm for Cleveland.
Emmet Sheehan - 5.0IP 3H 1ER 1R 5K 2BB
We’ll take it, I guess. Didn’t give up a homer, had a 23.1% SwStr% on the fastball, and got through five strong innings on 87 pitches.
Hitter Player Rater Since June 15th:
The big day yesterday was Munetaka Murakami getting right. Two bombs, three hits, six RBI. 22 bombs now, one every 13.4 PAs. That’s the third-best home run rate in the league.
Alvarez 13.0
Goodman 13.1
Murakami 13.4
Schwarber 13.6
Rice 13.7
Buxton 14.3
Judge 15.1
Caminero 15.6
Moniak 15.9
Abrams 16.1
Wood 16.3
Garcia Jr. 16.6
Soto 16.7
Olson 16.9
Montgomery 17.0
Huge week for CJ Abrams. He’s hit seven homers in his last seven games with a 1.960 OPS over this time, throwing in two steals. So he’s back after a mid-season lull:
The Nats are still in the race, one game out of a Wild Card. But there are a lot of teams in the mix here, and their Mead for Early trade doesn’t help them much for this year with Early still hurt. Here’s the NL Wild Card picture:
The Buccos could be in there with a win tonight! Huuugge series for the Pirates right now to give me something to be way overly interested in for the next three days.
Dominic Canzone hit a homer and scored 28 fantasy points. He’s been hitting near the top of the lineup even against lefties lately! Nice breakout season from Canzone going on:
More playing time this year, 16 bombs in 91 games, and now he’s an everyday guy with a .512 SLG.
Seems like he’s taken the approach against lefties to be very, very selective, and that’s gotten his BB% up to 20% there. Wild split there, just 7% against righties:
So he’s start-worthy every day now, I suppose.
That will be it for today!
