The savant data is delayed again today, so we’re approaching this old school. Here are the scores:
I stayed up LATE (11pm!!) to watch the Pirates lose a heartbreaker. Blew another lead late, and then even loaded the bases with nobody out down just one in the ninth. Strikeout and a double play ended the game, and they lost to the dumb Rockies. At least I had a bet on the under in that game. 11.5 for Freeland vs. Chandler was way too high.
It was definitely the best start for Freeland in a long time:
But who cares about that for fantasy leagues? Nobody. The more interesting point is probably that Antonio Senzatela now has seven wins and three saves with a 2.23 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.
The game in Sacramento went crazy again:
When Nolan Schanuel, Jacob Wilson, and Jonah Heim go long in the same game, you know there’s something funky with the park.
Here are your top ten hitting scorers from last night:
Ty France hit a grand slam off of Jacob deGrom in Texas in the first inning. deGrom bounced back pretty well and won the decision while striking out nine, but it was a rough start. France added a second homer and a double later on. So a big game for that guy, who we shouldn’t care about in fantasy leagues.
The Cubs ruined Kevin Gausman’s ERA. They sent that thing above four after scoring seven runs on him in two innings.
I suppose it was one of those days he didn’t have the splitter. The Cubs scored 16 runs. Tyler Rogers gave up five UNEARNED runs, which is magnificent. I wonder what the most UNEARNED runs ever given up was.
Looks like it’s SEVEN in the last six years.
Lawrence Butler scored FOUR times. He’s having a big June with a .317/.349/.537 slash; two homers and a steal.
The A’s are second in run-scoring in June (Milwaukee has 117 runs, Athletics 105, Royals 100). That Vegas series was the key, but there are going to be a ton of runs scored in this park.
Let’s see what the simulation has for today. It’s Walbert Urena vs. JT Ginn, two guys who fit that park just fine with their ground ball rates.
But still a 10.6 run tally in the sim.
Wyatt Langford has a .288/.339/.577 slash with four homers and a steal since returning from the IL. So that’s pretty elite stuff.
Jeremy Pena hit a couple of dingers to get his HR% up to 3.6% for the year. Tha’ts quite a bit higher than last year, and his AVG is up to .283 now.
He’s having a really nice season, albeit in just 39 games.
Jose Altuve is back and has three homers since returning on June 5th.
So the homers keep coming, but the batting average is way down, and the K% is way up.
