NEW PRICE ON PRO MEMBERSHIPS
I’ve dropped the price for an MLB DW Pro subscription to $125 per year. This tier is what gets you the access to the entirety of the app, including the daily projections, the betting stuff, the DFS optimizer, and a ton more stuff.
And your charge will be pro-rated. So if you’ve already paid the $85 for the year, you’ll only be charged $40 more dollars to get the PRO membership for the rest of this year. And that will lock in that price for next year as well.
Remember that it’s FREE CONTENT FRIDAY. Use password “friday” on the web app and check out everything you’d get daily with the PRO SUBSCRIPTION.

No problems with the statcast data today! So we’re rolling again.
Not much to talk about from yesterday with just seven games being played. But a few standouts:
Braxton Ashcraft: He is very good. A 2.89 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and a 19.9% K-BB% this year. His curveball and slider have been incredible, and his four-seamer has been better than last year. It’s a 54% Strike% and .288 xwOBA on that pitch. He’s here for the long haul. I guess we could balk at the fact that he threw just 128 innings last year, with some of that being in relief. So we don’t know that he can hold up through 30+ starts. But everything is great right now.
Cade Cavalli: Nine strikeouts for the man! Just nine whiffs, but he got it done. He has a 3.86 ERA, which is nice, and his K-BB% over the last seven starts is elite at 24%. He’s a lot like Ashcraft. A mediocre fastball but a very good curve (.239 xwOBA). The pitch mix isn’t super deep, and his fastball has been hit hard (.395 xwOBA), but I would have to say that there are more good signs than bad right now.
Spencer Strider: He gave up three homers yesterday to the Marlins. That usually results in a bad line, but they were all solo shots and he cleaned stuff up well with nine strikeouts. He walked two, and that’s been a pretty big issue for him so far with a 14.6% BB%. At least two walks given up in every start, but he’s just getting going. The last three years, his BB% is above 10%. The thing I’m most worried about is the fact that his fastball has been hit very hard this year with a .381 xwOBA. And the Stuff+ is very, very bad on that pitch. So it seems like he’s going to walk guys and give up homers to lefties (four already). I’d be seeing if I could take advantage of the strikeout rate and the name value through a trade.
Carlos Rodon: 18 whiffs and seven strikeouts in 95 pitches for Rodon. He looks to be back at it. One thing to note is that the velo was down last night. It didn’t bother him in the box score, but it’s a little bit concerning, right?
He’s at 94.6 for the year, and the fastball has been very good with a 12.6% SwStr%. I don’t think Rodon will be a super stud ace any longer, but he knows how to pitch, he has four pitches and a good track record behind him. So you can move forward pretty confidently with him, but with any aging guy coming off some injuries, I’d be looking to sell high if possible.
Spencer Miles: He had a nice bulk appearance for the Blue Jays in a win against the Yankees. He went 4.2 innings with a 6:1 K:BB and just two hits given up. He has an 18% K-BB% this year with a 3.05 JA SIERA. They might be building him up to a starter after they traded Eric Lauer. He’s probably not worth noting (11.4% SwStr%), but the sinker has a .305 xwOBA and 59% GB%, so he can do some stuff. Definitely a guy to check on in your 20-team leagues or whatever, and we’ll see what the plan is for him in Toronto.
Eduardo Rodriguez: Seven scoreless against the Rockies. He has a 1.67 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP over the last five starts. The underlying stuff isn’t very good (11% K-BB%), but he can pitch! He’s gotten to face the Mets, Pirates, and Rockies twice over these recent starts, so that helps. I don’t know if he’s a 12-teamer guy, but definitely a viable streamer in these good matchups.
Joey Cantillo: 5.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 6 SO, 3 BB against the Tigers. The whiffs have returned with 43 of those in his last three starts. There hasn’t been any change in the pitch mix. He’s still throwing that horrible fastball 43% of the time. He just doesn’t have much besides the changeup. So I’m not having positive thoughts about Cantillo, but he’s capable of good starts, and I think you can use him against these teams that don’t hit lefties well, of which there are many.
WORST TEAM OPS vs LEFT HANDED PITCHING
Let’s get into some hitters.
Two homers for Mikey Harris The Two! He’s having a huge year. .298/.324/.524 and ELEVEN homers now. His career high is 20 (last year), and he’s on his way to crushing that this year. His SB Att% is way down, so that balances is out a bit (22% last year, 7% this year).
He’s lifting the ball more, which is huge because he’s always hit the ball hard.
Check out the statcast data by year from the FanGraphs page:
Huge improvement in Brl% and hard hit and EVs. So he’s looking like a pretty strong power hitter now.
Two bombs from Stowers yesterday. Just his second and third of the season. It’s been a slow start for him after a late start due to injury.
The good news: .329 xwOBA, 26% K%, 10.4% BB%
Better plate discipline this year, just not as crisp of a batted ball profile. What he did last year on contact wasn’t going to happen again, but we can believe he’s a lot better than three homers in 111 PAs (what he’s done so far).
I don’t love the guy, never have. I still kinda think 2025 will prove to be his best season by far. But the Marlins believe as they gave him a contract extension, so he’s certainly not getting benched or demoted unless things go very very badly. I think you just ride it out and hope he can reclaim at least like 80% of what he did last year power-wise.
He’s really turned it on lately.
The Braves acquired him to smash righties. So far, that hasn’t happened (.241 xBA, .289 xwOBA). But he’s getting balls in play and has tapped back into the power over the last few weeks. He’s not a standard league player, but he’s better than what he’s been so far. He’s always hit righties well, so I think he can get back to that.
A bomb yesterday. He had a bad luck start to the season, but his .292 xBA and .391 xwOBA are both elite.
An 88% Zone Contact% with a 20% K% and a 13.5% Brl%. I think he’s one of the better offensive catchers in the game, and he might be a sneaky buy-low player if you’re looking for some catcher help.
xwOBA Improvers
This report here is very valuable every day in the notes.
It looks at last 30 days and compares to their last couple of seasons before that. These guys are legitimately hitting the ball a lot better in the last month.
We see Nolan Arenado here. The D’Backs are getting a very nice season for him. And they look pretty sharp for that acquisition.
He’s back up over a 4% HR%, his best mark since 2023. So maybe he’s not completely cooked. But his bat speed is barely above average, his barrel rate is poor at 7.3%… so I don’t think he’s giong to go for this 4% HR% for much longer. But he can still swing the bat, and he’ll play a ton for the Diamondbacks.
Alright I’ve got some work to do and then some more articles to push out today. We have the first base re-evaluation coming, and then waiver adds, and a big slate preview for Friday Night Baseball.
