Yordan Alvarez has some back spasms. So there it was!! Maybe he’ll be fine. But the Astros could be without him and Altuve at the same time now, which would make them a pretty bad lineup. Christian Walker (two homers yesterday) is the only other guy hitting.

Carlos Correa is out for the year after ankle surgery. So it’s all falling apart for the Astros. And there’s talk about them trading Yordan to enter a full on rebuild. That’d be interesting.

Troy Melton will start for the Tigers today. Or maybe not today? Sometime soon. He has some studly minor league numbers in his career:

He’s pitched mostly in relief in the Majors. Four pretty nice starts last year:

Here’s the pitch mix from his rehab:

Good fastball, sick slider, with sinkers and splitters. A very interesting target and someone I’d like to get my hands on in a few leagues.

Dylan Crews hit a homer. Here’s how the rehab went:

Nothing special. He has a .630 OPS in 475 big league PAs. But he’s back.

Couple of dingers for Zach Neto on Friday. I thought it was yesterday, so I wrote this. And now I realize it wasn’t yesterday, but why delete what I wrote?

He’s been disappointing this year with a .227/.335/.435 slash line on a .290 xBA and.323 xwOBA.

But he still has 10 homers and seven steals in 53 games. So that’s a 30-20 pace, pretty much what he’s always played at.

Jordan Walker scored 50 fantasy points yesterday. It took him 10 PAs to do it in a doublt header, but four hits, two homers, three runs, seven RBI, and a walk - quite a day.

That breakout is firmly established now. 215 PAs in, he’s got a .277 xBA with a .384 xwOBA and his K% is down to 25.6%!

PLUS seven steals and a 19% attempt.

Teoscar Hernandez had three hits with a dinger, his seventh of the year. He’s been pretty quiet this year on the home run side. but .276/.346/.447 is still fine and he has 31 RBI in 47 games.

Two bombs from Liam Hicks as his breakout continues.

That’s gotta be the lowest barrel rate (5%) of anybody with double-digit homers. Sure is, by far:

The way you make that happen is typically with low K% and high Air Pull%. Let’s see if that’s the case with the Liaminator.

Yes, I am right.

Ketel Marte is rewarding your patience. I love seeing that red line catch up with the green line:

Three homers in five games for Ketel with 1.245 OPS since May 13th.

Bryan Torres got called up by the Cardinals and homered.

That’ll always be a feel-good story. He’s 29 years old, so this isn’t a prospect.
