Well, that afternoon slate ended up being brutal to put together. We’ll see how that goes; not feeling confident.

But we have to turn the page to the night slate now. Let’s do what the Grant Kneifer dude says and get riiiiiiight into it.

Weather

One spot:

Probably fine there for KC/MIN.

The Cubs game is 82 degrees with 12mph winds STRAIGHT OUT.

So we’ll see that in the game info.

Game Info

The Cubs game is Ginn (good ground baller) against Imanaga. Advantage ATHLETICS, I’d say there. Ginn is a whole lot better at keeping the ball out of the air compared to Imanaga.

I think I’d like to bet on the Cubs under six runs. Again, Ginn has a 48% GB% with just six homers surrendered (one every 40 PAs, a good rate). So wouldn’t that cancel out plenty of the wind concerns?

But the Cubs are tough on righties. PCA and Busch have been good, and there’s really no bad bats in that lineup.

So Cubs and Athletics are key on this slate.

The Braves are against Yesavage, which I don’t like. Yesavage got wild last time, but mostly he’s been good, and he definitely profiles as a guy who won’t give up a ton of homers. So I guess I’m under on both of the top run implications.

The Dodgers see Ryne Nelson again. They’ve seen plenty of him. They haven’t seen him since the first weekend of the season, though. So that might help Ryne. He’s a guy who can get tanked (four homers allowed last time), but is around a league-average arm overall. So it’s not a must-stack spot there.

If you’re going to go crazy on a stack, I guess it should be the Athletics and Imanaga with his massive home run issue and the winds going in their favor. The fly-ball guys are Colby, Kurtz, Soderstrom, and Langeliers.

Team Projections

Cubs and A’s pop in my model as well. And the Royals (vs. Andrew Morris, an opener), Twins (vs. Lugo), D’Backs (vs. Wrobleski), and Dodgers (vs. Nelson) are there as well.

It makes sense to embrace the sports books lines and play a bunch of Wrigley Field hitters tonight.
