MLB DW Slate Preview - April 11
An automated report of each game on the MLB slate with full projections, recommended bets, and the top DFS plays from each.
Welcome to the best night slate of the young season! Let’s first talk about weather:
You can bench your Orioles and Blue Jays. That game does not appear likely to happen. The Yankees game should also be monitored.
It’s not the most exciting pitching slate. We will get to see how Jacob deGrom does in Seattle after one excellent start and one pretty poor one. We get the David Festa season debut in a nice matchup with the Tigers. Bryce Miller will try to shake off the rust against the Rangers with the home park advantage. Robbie Ray, if the weather holds, will fight Yankees Stadium and the torpedo bats. That won’t go well if he doesn’t get that strikeout rate up tonight. And then we have some
There aren’t too many very bad pitchers on the board, although you can always count on the White Sox staff to generate some hitter targets on the other side. They’ll throw out Davis Martin tonight.
The betting marks have the Diamondbacks (vs. Jose Quintana), the Mets (vs. JP Sears in Oakland), the Rays (vs. Bryce Elder), and the Dodgers (vs. Matthew Boyd) as the highest-implied run scorers tonight.
It’s a massive slate for DFS with 13 games. So let’s get into that.
Jon’s DFS Breakdown
Pitcher Targets
Jacob deGrom ($9,500) vs. Mariners: That second start wasn’t very encouraging, but we’re betting on deGrom in a fantastic matchup here. The strikeout ceiling is massive, even though he will probably be capped around 85-90 pitches.
Nick Pivetta ($9,100) vs. Rockies: The best matchup in fantasy baseball just might be the Rockies on the road in their first game after a home series. Historically, their offense performs even worse in their first game of a road trip as compared to the rest of their road games. And Pivetta is a guy who can take advantage of a strikeout-heavy lineup. He has an elite strikeout rate over the last few seasons, and I would project a very good game for him in this spot.
