MLB DW Slate Preview - April 8
An automated report of each game on the MLB slate with full projections, recommended bets, and the top DFS plays from each.
I have a lot going on today, so I don’t have much time to get in deep here. I was able to add some serious upgrades to the daily projection model. We’re now properly considering wind, temperatures, and home plate umpires. That should make the projections more accurate. So let’s lean into the model tonight and see if it works out!
Pitchers
Freddy Peralta ($7,800) vs. Rockies: I’m personally not comfortable with Peralta in DFS tonight. It’s a warm night in Denver, and Peralta is not what I’d consider a safe pitcher in any situation. But the upside is still fantastic against this beatable Rockies lineup, and the model really loves taking the discount on him.
Chris Sale ($9,300) vs. Phillies: Tougher matchup for Sale, but it’s Sale we’re talking about. He’s one of the best in the business, and this price isn’t prohibitive.
Dylan Cease ($10,300) vs. Athletics: That’s a high price for Cease, but the Athletics can whiff, and Cease consistently delivers strikeouts.
Cole Ragans ($8,100) vs. Twins: This feels like the right DFS play for the price. The Twins aren’t an imposing offense, and Ragans is one of the best strikeout pitchers in the league. I’ll happily take him for $8,100.
Team Offense
Brewers vs. Kyle Freeland: Freeland has gotten out of the gates in great fashion, but I doubt he can handle Coors tonight. The Brewers are a solid offense and project at the top of the slate tonight.
Mets vs. Connor Gillispie: They Mets are right there with the Brewers in total projection, although they are much more expensive.
Cubs vs. Patrick Corbin: Here’s your third offense to target. Corbin is BACK, baby.
Value Bats
Tim Tawa ($2,000) vs. Charlie Morton: He’s a rookie who just got the call-up last weekend, and he’s stone-min priced tonight. Tawa has slashed .382/.354/.537 in the minors since 2024 with 34 homers and 16 steals. The upside is there.
Isaac Collins ($3,100) vs. Kyle Freeland: Brewers lock!
Ryan Bliss ($2,700) vs. Ryan Gusto
Casey Schmitt ($2,100) vs. Nick Lodolo
Kameron Misner ($2,800) vs. Kyle Hendricks
Blake Dunn ($2,500) vs. Landen Roupp
Jonathan Aranda ($3,500) vs. Kyle Hendricks
Justin Turner ($3,100) vs. Patrick Corbin
Matt Shaw ($4,000) vs. Patrick Corbin
You’ll have to figure the rest out yourself, enjoy the slate!
