Jon’s Early DFS Preview
Pitcher Targets
Hunter Brown ($10,000) vs. Mariners: Brown looks better than he ever has, and this is one of the best matchups available. The M’s are hitting .162 at home with a 29% K%. I expect a big game from Brown.
Max Fried ($9,000) vs. Tigers: Fried hasn’t been sharp early on (19% K%, 2.40 WHIP+), but I think you’ll see him improve as the season goes on. He’s had slow starts in the past, and this is a great matchup for him to right the ship. The DraftKings price is a little high, but I would be using Fried with confidence in the fantasy world today.
Tyler Megill ($8,700) vs. Marlins: This is another situation where the price is uncomfortable. I’m not sure Megill deserves a price near $9K, but if he ever does, it’s in this matchup. I think he’s a lock for 5+ strikeouts against this Marlins lineup, and that gives him a decent floor for fantasy purposes. He is prone to losing command and inefficiency, so I’m not locking in five strong innings here, but it’s a great spot.
Nick Martinez ($6,900) vs. Giants: Martinez does not walk many hitters and allows a ton of balls in play, especially in the air. We saw AT&T Park save Nick Lodolo a few times last night, and I think we could see a repeat of that. I don’t think N-Mart is going over four strikeouts, but I could see him cruising through seven innings here.
Pitcher Fades
Shota Imanaga ($9,700) vs. Rangers: He has been struggling to get strikeouts early on at just a 15% K%. That’s going to come up soon (15.5% SwStr%), but I don’t think I can play him at $9,700 against the Rangers.
