The dust has cleared, and we have some new-looking rosters now. This is kind of a third Opening Day. We have the normal Opening Day, and then the first day of the second half, and then the first full slate after the trade deadline. So this is the home stretch.

Hot Hitters

Kyle Manzardo was showing us some really interesting things early on this year, but that largely crashed and burned, and he’s had a pretty rough season overall. He’s turned it on again lately:

Manzardo has had a nice season against right-handed pitching with a .464 SLG and 14 of his 18 homers. There’s very little consistency to him, and he strikes out a good bit (25%), but overall, you want him in the lineup against righties. This year, he has a crazy low 28% GB% against righties. That will work out nicely against his opponent today, Joe Ryan. Ryan is one of the best pitchers in the league this year, but he does have a history of giving up the longball.
