MLB DW Slate Preview - August 11
Thoughts, stats, DFS, player props, and more for today's slate of MLB action
I’m finding five spots to hammer tonight, and we’ll make five “safe” prop picks from them. And then I will track them this week to see if we can turn $X into $X plus some positive number.
Play #1: BOOM Hitter Ben Rice
Zebby Matthews is on the hill in Yankees Stadium. There have been worse times to face off with the Yankees. Aaron Judge is probably not fully healthy, and the rest of the offense hasn’t been making up for his lack.
I like Zebby, as you know. But he is a guy who gets hit hard and in the air. And that’s especially good for Ben Rice. Rice has been more of a “fine” bat for the Yanks ever since that hot start to the year, but he does have some nice numbers against righties this year (.463 SLG, 12 HR, 18% K%). He shows up on the BOOM Hitters list, and I think he’s got a great shot at a longball tonight. But we’ll buy ourselves some extra “outs” here by just taking him over 1.5 total bases.
PLAY: BEN RICE OVER 1.5 TOTAL BASES (+115)
Play #2: Andrew Abott Fade
Andrew Abbott is in rough shape right, and tonight he’ll face the Phillies in Cincinnati in 90 degree weather.
Even at his best, Abbott is a fly ball pitcher, and that is not the kind of pitcher you want to be facing a potent offense in Great American Ballpark.
PLAY: PHILLIES OVER 1.5 HOMERS (-120)
