MLB DW Slate Preview - August 12
Thoughts, stats, DFS, player props, and more for today's slate of MLB action
Three outta five last night, so we’re on our way, baby. We’ve made almost one unit. You now have zero point seven-eight more units than you did yesterday thanks to me. And what a great thing it is to have zero point seven-eight units.
The love of units is the root of all kinds of evil, said the Apostle Paul. So let us not put our trust and faith in our units. But let us turn our point seven eight units into like one point three four units. And then I will donate all my units to charity at the end of the week.
Play #1: Reversing Course on Ben Brown
I pumped up Ben Brown so much in May and June. It was a full-on love fest, and I think Ben and his family owe me some gratitude for it. And maybe an apology too, because he made me look like an idiot. I mean I could pursue a law suit for defamation. Ben Brown defamed me by pitching badly after I said he would pitch well. How’s that for a novel legal theory.
JOKES ASIDE NOW. Brown is back in the Cubs rotatio and will make a start in Canada tonight. Since getting back to the Majors, Brown has thrown 63, 57, and 56 pitches in his three outings.
That doesn’t mean they’ll pull him at 4.2 innings just because he hits 65 pitches or something like that. It’s not all that hard to finish five innings, and the team will often let you throw some extra pitches to finish up an inning so the bullpen doesn’t have to come in for one out.
