MLB DW Slate Preview - August 29
Thoughts, stats, DFS, player props, and more for today's slate of MLB action
I have not done a good job with the slate previews this month. But I refuse to miss a Tuesday or a Friday! I’m not sure who all is still reading along with me. But I do enjoy getting into these slates. I just have so many other things demanding my attention this month that it’s been a bit tough.
But let’s get into some angles for this, the final Friday in August.
Robbie Ray’s Velo?
These charts can be misleading. Just because we have one start with plummeting velocity does not mean it will happen again. But there’s a higher chance that he comes out tonight again, averaging 91-93 rather than 93-95, and that would make a big time difference in his performance.
Going from 95 to 92 is a huge difference. He did not strike out a single batter last time with that 91.3mph velo and earned just five whiffs. I would be heavy on the strikeout unders for Ray tonight. But it could go very poorly if the velo snaps back.
PLAY: ROBBIE RAY UNDER 6.5 STRIKEOUTS -110
Jonah Tong Unders
I’m a believer in Tong. He would seem to have all the right stuff to have success against Major League hitters. But DraftKings is more of a believer than I am. They have Tong priced aggressively, basically giving you even more on a 6.5 strikeout prop.
