The Friday after the All-Star Break always feels like a second Opening Day to me. I’m very excited for this Friday slate of baseball.

BOOM Hitters

From the matchups algorithm:

It’s a great spot for Kyle Tucker to get your day started with the 2:20 Wrigley game. Giolito has been good lately, but that guy has a history of giving up dingers and having some poor outings. This is a terrifying spot for Giolito, so I think Tucker gets the Cubs off to a hot start in this second half with a big game.

The nice values here would be Spencer Horwitz and Oneil Cruz, as well as Jack Suwinski. Cannon has given up a .346 xwOBA to lefties since last year. He has a 4.28 JA ERA this year, and his strikeout rates are well below 20%. The Pirates are in a good spot to score some runs here.
