MLB DW Slate Preview - July 25
Thoughts, stats, DFS, player props, and more for today's slate of MLB action
Welcome to another Friday night of baseball. We have quite a bit of rain across the great United States tonight, so that’s something we’ll have to keep in mind. Here’s the rundown from Kevin Roth over at RotoGrinders.
Looks like we could avoid the PPD in all cases though, so we should be okay to have some fun tonight. Let’s break down some of the best spots.
Astros vs. Jeffrey Springs
Houston is very right-handed. And they get the matchup at home against Jeffrey Springs.
Springs is a fly ball pitcher. He’s generated just a 31% GB% against righties this year, and he’s given up 16 dingers to them already. It’s a fantastic spot for this Astros lineup:
Absolutely loving these guys. Cam Smith, Christian Walker, Chas McCormick, and Brice Matthews look like the guys most likely to get a ball up in the air and into those Crawford Boxes tonight. The best Astros are pulling balls in the air:
Too small a sample size on Matthews to trust it, and we know he’ll strike out a ton this year. I’m liking some dinger picks on McCormick, Altuve, and Walker.
But the way I’d probably go is just with the Astros as a unit to hit some homers and score some runs.

Dean Kremer on Rocky Road
You aren’t catching anybody sleeping on this. Everybody knows the proper adjustments needed when a pitcher takes on the Rockies at home. But I have to point it out, right? Kremer is four points above his season average projection.
Insanely great spot for Kremer. Kremer isn’t great (3.83 JA ERA, 13% K-BB%), but he does throw a lot of pitches when he’s holding things together.
He’s on six days rest here, so I think we’re going to see him sail past 90 pitches. Again, the lines are all adjusted for this, but I feel pretty good about Kremer working deep into this one.
