In Park Predictors, we look at favorable matchups for hitters and pitchers based on where they are playing this week and the MLB DW Park Factors, which look at four years' worth of data for MLB ballparks.
Here’s a look at the Aug. 17-23:
HITTERS
St. Louis Cardinals
On the road all week with five games at Cincinnati and three games at Philadelphia.
Cardinals hitters will have a chance to get off to a good start with a doubleheader on Monday likely against Reds starters Chase Petty (4.83 ERA, 4.26 K/9) and Rhett Lowder (5.15 ERA, 1.48 WHIP).
On the road, the Cardinals have a 101 wRC+ as a team, while that number drops to 89 at pitcher-friendly Busch Stadium.
NL Rookie of the Year leader JJ Wetherholt, Alec Burleson and Nathan Church have performed much better on the road for the Cardinals’ lineup. Wetherholt has a .227/.311/.328 slash line at Busch, but .266/.394/.440 on the road. Burleson has been good at Busch (.264/.338/.421) and he hits at an All-Star level on the road (.313/.373/.551). Church is nearly league average on the road (.248/.305/.404) but terrible at home (.228/.259/.322).
