In Park Predictors, we look at favorable matchups for hitters and pitchers based on where they are playing this week and the MLB DW Park Factors, which look at four years' worth of data for MLB ballparks.
Here’s a look at the Aug. 24-30:
HITTERS
Nationals
For the past five seasons, Nationals Park has ranked in the top 5 of MLB parks for runs allowed (3rd), lefthanded home runs (2nd) and right-handed home runs (5th). It’s a hitters’ paradise that Nationals’ hitters have taken advantage of this year, hitting .255/.330/.448 at home in 2026 (.244/.320/.421 on the road).
Unfortunately, two of the best home hitters for the Nationals will not be playing this week (James Wood is on the IL as is Curtis Mead, although it is with the Red Sox). But two of the players who have gained playing time from those losses – Abimelec Ortiz and Andres Chaparro. Ortiz, a rookie who came over in the MacKenzie Gore trade, has three home runs in his first seven home games. Chaparro’s 128 wRC+ is the 2nd best of the current Nationals’ lineup.
In this season of changing leadership with Washington, newcomers are making a splash, especially at home. Brady House, Keibert Ruiz, Harry Ford and Jacob Young are all hitting much higher wRC+ at home than the road.
