Park Predictors - Week 7
Examining the park influence for hitters, pitchers as you prepare for the week ahead
In Park Predictors, we look at favorable matchups for hitters and pitchers based on where they are playing this week and the MLB DW Park Factors, which look at four years' worth of data for MLB ballparks.
Here’s a look at the May 4-10:
HITTERS
Los Angeles Angels
What!? Hear me out.
With three games at home and three games in Toronto, it’s a sneaky good week for Los Angeles hitters. Plus, they get a day off between the long travel, so rest should not be an issue.
Angels lefthanded hitters enjoy the third-best home run park (116) in MLB and the 10th-best (105) for righthanders. Toronto’s home park plays nearly equally well for right- and left-handed power hitters – 114 rating for lefties (5th) and 111 for righties (6th).
This is where I would talk about all the great lefthanded power hitters for Angels and the great week they would have. But Nolan Schanuel (career .371 slugging pct., most consider .420 average), Josh Lowe (.411), Yoan Moncada (.376 as lefthanded hitter) and Adam Frazier (.384) are not those hitters, they are just the lefthanded hitters on the Angels’ roster.
