Projection Powered Player Props - April 23
Stuart Durst is back with MLB player props for today's loaded slate.
Hope everyone is having a fantastic start to the week! Had to get this one out early with such a hectic day-game slate, but if you have any questions for the late slate let me know! Now without further ado, lets get into today’s props!
Tomoyuki Sugano o15.5 Outs
Price: +128
Book: Bet365
Projection: 17.1
Edge: 18%
Sugano is coming off his best MLB start, allowing 2 runs in 7 innings against the Guardians. The Orioles starting pitching has been absolutely brutal this season with the worst starting rotation ERA in the majors. Despite the struggles Sugano has been solid with a 3.43 ERA, going over 16 outs in 2/4 starts (both misses coming against the Blue Jays).
Sugano’s 9.2% strikeout rate puts him in the bottom 3 of all MLB starters with at least 10 innings pitched. He’s clearly out there to pitch to contact, and the Nationals should appease his wishes tonight by swinging early and often.
Washington’s eagerness to make soft contact rather than striking out has made them a fantastic target for under strikeouts and over outs. They will put the ball in play and I’m not confident they do enough damage to get him out of this game. Kramer was awful last game and even he made it back out to start the 5th inning. The Orioles are in dire need of a quality start, and I think stylistically Sugano is in a good position to be very efficient tonight.
