MLB Walks Props
Tony Gonsolin 2+ Walks/Luis Ortiz 2+ Walks +100 DK
Tony Gonsolin 3+ Walks +160 CZR (O.5u)
The projections love Gonsolin walks, projecting him at 2.63 against the Mets. I’ve played SP walks in both games this series, with both LA starters posting 2 walks each. The Mets are 6th in pitches per plate appearance and are a fairly patient and pesky lineup. They work counts, don’t strike out much, and should make Gonsolin earn it. On the other side Gonsolin has posted 2+ walks in 5/6 starts and 3+ in three straight.
He’s had control problems, ranking 11th percentile in walk rate, and since he’s not generating chases or whiffs at a high level he needs to get cute around the zone. This hasn’t worked out well against tougher opponents, including when the Mets walked 3 times against him recently. He’s really struggled with fly balls and barrel’s this season, I don’t think this start ends well for Gonsolin.
The projections have Luis Ortiz for an insane 3.35 walks this season, with him going over 2+ walks in 9 straight games and 10 of 11 starts total. He gets an absolutely brutal matchup against the patient Yankees lineup who should continue that trend tonight.
Juan Soto o1.5 H+R+RBI
Price: -135
Book: Draftkings
Juan Soto has been a great example of the extreme powers of New York media. Despite having a baseball savant page that looks like this… Soto was treated like he was going through a Chris Davis-esque slump in the papers.
