It’s not looking good for the Mick Abel crew, of which I am a member. Spring is meaningless, and it proves to be so annually. But we bite it every year. Even the people who know it!

But I don’t know, I still don’t really regret it. What else are you going to do in the 25th round of a March draft? You can take Chris Bassitt or you can roll the 50-sided dice and take a shot on someone who might just be a difference-maker. That pick for me this year was Mick Abel.
He didn’t just have the spring stats. He didn’t just have the gaudy Stuff+ numbers and the velo and the whiffs. He had shown some stuff in the Majors last year! But yeah, he got trucked out of the bullpen in his first appearance and he wasn’t good on Saturday.

Who knows how long the leash will even be. He could find himself back in AAA tomorrow.
