HEY. If you any of you serious DFS players or betting guys want to help me with these articles, I’m very interested in bringing another guy or two on to help me with the load. I’d love to have one of these posts out daily, but I can’t come close to fulfilling that myself. Reach out if you’re interested!

Well, I had a nice Opening Day. Living the opto life…

The problem with that life is that you need an outlier lineup to make money. I took 7th in that for a $250 hit on a $1 entry. Take away that lineup, and I would’ve made all of $20. The prizes are so top-heavy in these contests. You’ve gotta be ready to endure some losing streaks. I will eventually lose most of the $150 in a day if I continue to attack it like this. But I’m pretty sure I’ll eventually hit first place as well, which will cover a ton of losses.

And yeah, it’s a real edge using projections and an optimizer to get 150 lineups into a contest where most people aren’t doing so. Putting some numbers on yesterday’s mini-max:

  • 40,846 Total Lineups

  • 6,006 Unique Players

  • 170 Players with 150 Lineups

Almost nobody is going in for the full 150 lineups. And I get it, it seems ridiculous to do this. I’m only able to do this because I’ve built a bankroll through MLB DW and some kinda lucky hits and stuff.

It’s a fun thing to do! I’m not sure if I’ll keep at it all year, it can get pretty stressful when someone I had a ton of doesn’t make the lineup. But having an optimizer built with quickly refreshing projections makes it possible.

By the way! I mentioned this in the Daily Notes this morning to PRO SUBS: I know the optimizer isn’t saving your settings. When I have the time, I’ll explore a way to vastly overhaul and improve the optimizer. I did it in one afternoon, with AI obviously. My recommendation to you is to use another optimizer right now. That said, I used mine yesterday, and it gave me basically what I wanted. It’s just a huge pain to have to re-enter your settings every time you load the page. More to come on that!

It’s a somewhat lame Friday slate. But we have a few true opening days on the board with teams playing their first game. So it should be a good night of baseball, our first Friday night! Let’s talk about the DFS slate.
