Here we are, the last set of games before the All-Star Break. Can’t believe we are already at this part of the season. Obviously, I will not have one of these Starts & Sits this Sunday since nobody will be playing. We’ll fire them back up either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how much information teams have out.

I know last Sunday I was contemplating going to the Futures game. I did in fact decide to go, so if any of you guys are attending, maybe I will see you there! Enjoy the break!

LEGEND

  • Anchor Arms - General consensus is they are going to dominate the matchup.

  • Send it Guys - Expect a solid performance. Thanks to either a favorable matchup or just a hot hand.

  • Danger Zone - Could be an awesome start with a solid amount of upside, but it’s not a comfortable matchup.

  • Desperation Station - A super unfavorable matchup, but you are desperate for points, so you start them anyway.

  • Hard Pass - Dudes I don’t have any interest in starting.

DISCLAIMER - Starters subject to change; we use the best information we have available to project who will be starting on a given day.

Thursday July 9

ANCHOR ARMS

  • Nathan Eovaldi vs LAA

  • Bryce Miller @ Miami

SEND IT GUYS

  • Jesus Luzardo @ Cincinnati

  • Reid Detmers @ Texas - Rangers aren’t great against LHP.

  • Drew Rasmussen vs NYY - Has come back to Earth with his results recently, still love the spot at home.

  • Framber Valdez vs Athletics

  • Jack Perkins @ Detroit - Walks and dingers were an issue last start, but you can’t ignore a 29.4% K%!!! He’s a flyball pitcher, which is fine here on the road. I wish he’d throw his changeup some more!

  • Gavin Williams @ Minnesota - Start ‘em.

  • Logan Henderson @ St. Louis - First start off IL, threw 68 pitches in last rehab start. Probably 80ish pitch limit in first game back.

DANGER ZONE

  • Sean Manaea vs Kansas City

  • David Peterson @ Baltimore - Well, it was an awful debut in his new set of pinstripes. 10 EARNED RUNS, way to make a first impression to the Wrigley faithful, ruining our Fourth of July Eve. If you haven’t caught on yet, the Cubbies are my closet team (I actually have several) when the Orioles suck it up, which is more often than not. Call me a fake fan all you want, but I’m just a baseball guy. What can I say? I digress. Peterson has a good chance in this one, the O’s suck against LHP again…Take the over on K’s.

  • Trevor Rogers vs CHC - He’s been really really solid recently, especially when Basallo is catching him. Keep an eye on that pregame.

DESPERATION STATION

  • Michael Wacha @ NYM - Starting to throw his changeup way more with great results.

  • Robbie Ray vs Colorado - I really don’t know what to make of this guy. He has a 4.7% K-BB% (which is horrendous), a .236 xAVG (okay maybe he’s getting unlucky), and a .191 BABIP (that is super lucky). Maybe he wants to stay a Giant and isn’t pitching well to avoid being traded. Getting the road Rockies here isn’t a great matchup at all. As a team in the last month against LHP the Rockies have a .892 OPS, sixth best in baseball.

  • Brady Singer vs Philadelphia

  • Patrick Sandoval @ CWS - Making his first start back in two years!! Definitely not a spot I’m going to go, but if you want to risk it for the biscuit, be my guest.

  • Bryce Elder @ Pittsburgh

HARD PASS

  • Anthony Kay vs Boston - Kay’s last outing was rain-shortened. Projections don’t love the spot.

  • Janson Junk vs Seattle

  • Mike Paredes vs Cleveland - Has a decent sweeper, just not enough command to start ‘em.

  • Elmer Rodriguez @ Tampa Bay - This is what is projected for now; it hasn’t been announced yet. What we’ve seen from Elmer in the bigs so far is that he’s not ready. More walks than strikeouts isn’t a great sign.

  • Merrill Kelly @ San Diego

  • Mitch Keller vs Atlanta - Isn’t getting ground balls or strikeouts, not worth a start.

  • Gabriel Hughes @ San Francisco

  • Griffin Canning vs Arizona - Hasn’t completed five innings in the last month. Although the home 29.6% K% is intriguing. Arizona doesn’t strike out much. Pass.

  • Andre Pallante vs Atlanta
