The Bullpen Tracker: AL
A weekly article looking for saves and holds across the league
Shout out to “Rob” for keeping this thing going week in and week out! Here’s his work for this week, looking at the backend of AL bullpens:
2026 MLB Bullpen Tracker (AL)
May 6 – May 19
Another American League check-in—tracking closers, role changes, and the most valuable holds arms in SV+HLD formats.
This is where the edges keep showing up.
Baltimore Orioles
Closer: Rico Garcia (Ryan Helsley expected back ~5/15)
Garcia has been so good that it at least raises questions—but this is still Helsley’s job when healthy. Ride Garcia while it lasts.
Holds Targets: Yennier Cano, Andrew Kittredge, Anthony Núñez
Cano and Kittredge bring experience and longer leashes. Núñez remains a strong underlying play.
Boston Red Sox
Closer: Aroldis Chapman
Still dominant and one of the best in the game this year.
Holds Targets: Garrett Whitlock
Now the only reliever here worth trusting. Clear separation from the rest of the bullpen.
