Today we’re going to be attacking Michael Lorenzen of the Colorado Rockies with Brandon Lowe. Why are we attacking him? This season Lorenzen has given up six jacks to left-handed hitters. He’s given up a 52.9% hard hit rate, an insane 35.3% home run fly ball rate, and a 24% pull rate. And what has Brandon done all season against these types of pitches? He is averaging a 27.7% pull rate and a 51% hard hit rate. He crushes the two main pitches that Lorenzen throws: a fastball and a changeup. Fun note on a stat for him. While he has eight jacks for the year, he also has ten that could have been dependent upon the park they’re in. We’re going to line this up today since he just went 0fer on the HRs in the SF series.
