We’re getting CLOSE to the end of this. I’m not sure how far I’m going to go past 250. But here’s ADP 225-250:
SHARP: ADOLIS GARCIA
This is a fantastic park shift of Garcia. For whatever reason, it’s been really hard to hit for power in Arlington the last two years. And that has not been nice to Garcia.
Now he goes to Philly, a pretty decent place to hit, and he gets plenty of the pressure lifted off of him. He’s the, what, 4th best hitter in this lineup at the absolute max?
I think the guy still has 25-30 homer power in there, and maybe a dozen steals to boot! This is a pretty sweet price to get him at.
FISH: MATT SHAW
I don’t see how you can go to Shaw right now. Alex Bregman is at third, Nico Hoerner is at second, and Dansby Swanson is at shortstop. And you would have to rank Shaw as the worst hitter of the bunch right now.
I usually like to buy on these top prospects that struggle in their first year and head into their second year, but I don’t see it with Shaw. He’s one injury away, sure, but you shouldn’t be drafting guys who need an injury to have a chance to play inside the top 250.
And he’s not even in the top 250 if you look at the last week:
But I don’t hate anybody in this tier enough, and I still don’t think I’d take Shaw at the 260-280 ADP he’s at now. He can steal bags, sure, but I’m questioning the big league power, and I just don’t think he’ll be startable at the beginning of the year, and that’s enough for the fish tag.
