It’s shake-up week. Rosters are going to change a whole lot in the next seven days as the trade deadline comes and goes. So it’s not a great week to be looking too far ahead. But let’s see what we’ve got.

Recommended SP Pickups

  • Joe Boyle, Rays: He’ll get two starts this week unless something really weird happens. They’re against the Yankees and Dodgers. But I think Boyle is good enough with the amount of command he’s shown this year to handle it. It also majorly helps that Aaron Judge is on the IL, and the Dodgers’ lineup just isn’t what it was at the beginning of the year with Betts and Freeman continuing to scuffle.

  • Edward Cabrera, Marlins: It’s time for him to be at least 70% owned. E-Cab grabs a double dip this week against the Cardinals and Yankees, and he’s shown more than enough to earn the “must add” tag, at least in weekly points leagues.

  • Zebby Matthews, Twins: He needs to be added now. He’ll likely on grab one start (8/1 vs. CLE), but he’s too good to be left on waivers.

  • Troy Melton, Tigers: I’m not 100% sure if he’ll truly make this start. As far as I’ve seen, the Tigers haven’t announced anything. But it makes sense that he’d be given another shot in the Majors, and if he does it will come this week against the Diamondbacks, a suddenly lackluster offense which will certainly get worse this week with the likely trade of Eugenio Suarez.

  • Slade Cecconi, Guardians: He will grab the coveted home start against the Rockies this week, and he’s more than good enough to call that a must-stream situation.

  • Quinn Priester, Brewers: It’s a tough matchup this week against the Cubs, but he’s been pretty close to an elite pitcher for 5-6 weeks now, and he’s earned a spot in pretty much every fantasy league going right now.

  • Cam Schlittler, Yankees: He will likely face the Rays this week at home, and I like the pitch mix he has. I’m not sure he’ll be good in the Majors, but I know he has the raw talent to do it.

  • Brayan Bello, Red Sox: We could see the Twins lineup become one to target heavily. First, they could ship a couple of names off at the deadline. Second, we might see an IL trip for Byron Buxton. And Bello has been on a nice roll lately, I like the matchup with Minnesota for Bello that will come early in the week.

  • Joey Wentz, Braves: It’s hard to believe that Wentz is any good at all, and he’s probably not. But he’s been serviceable in the Braves rotation so far and he’ll get an appealing matchup with the Royals in KC this week.
