Bettin’ Bucs
It came to an end last night. We lost on day four because the Pirates scratched across just one run. They stranded a lead-off triple in the second inning, and had another guy barely thrown out at the plate on a ground ball play they executed fine. Just an elite throw from Ketel Marte to cut down Griffin and end our run. We might start another one of those next week. But the content from me will be lighter the next few days as I’m going to Cleveland tomorrow to catch a game with my buddies from Pittsburgh.
Weather
No problems here, it’s a great day for baseball across the country.
Implied Totals
One more Coors game for the Mets! It’s Christian Scott vs. Jose Quintana in that one. Pretty good spot for both teams.
The Cubs keep winning, the Reds keep losing. The Cubs haven’t lost at home in like a month. And that is starting to P me O. I’m pretty mad about the Cubs and their bad pitching staff (which got a lot worse yesterday with the Matt Boyd injury), and it’s not like it’s an offensive juggernaut either. They’ll come back to earth and the Pirates will win the division. Or at least I can dream.
The offenses to target
Mets vs. Quintana
Cubs vs. Lowder
Royals vs. Cecconi
Yankees vs. Gore?
Rockies vs. Scott
Nationals vs. Woods Richardson
The pitcher data on these guys:
Gore is going to pop off for a huge outing at some point. The command hasn’t been good, but you can see the strikeout ability he still possesses. But the Yankees… that’s such a brutal matchup for anybody, and maybe especially so with Gore, a guy who can give up walks and homers (and this game is at NYY).
