No podcast this week but we wanted to share our waiver wire targets for the upcoming week and beyond. For those with daily waivers, Sept. 1 is the day MLB teams can expanded their rosters from 26 to 28, so be ready for that, especially in leagues of 20+ teams.

Shallow League Pitcher Targets

  • Grayson Rodriguez, Angels (29%): Maybe Jon Anderson is right. Rodriguez is 14th in MLB in WAR for starting pitchers in August. Thanks in large part to striking out more than a batter an inning over his 27.2 innings, and running a 2.93 ERA (supported by a 2.54 xERA)

  • Andrew Painter, Phillies (50%): Simply a must add right now. We will learn more tonight (8/28) in his second start since ramping up the velo and shape on the four-seamer, but the upside is too much to leave on waivers at this point in the season.

  • Shane Drohan, Brewers (40%): Two very nice matchups coming up against the Rangers and Reds, and he has good stuff and has pitched well this year.
