Waiver Wire Targets: August 7

No podcast this week but we wanted to share our waiver wire targets for the upcoming week and beyond.

Shallow League Pitcher Targets

Blake Snell, Dodgers: Just in case you play in a league with no IL spots and Snell is hanging out there, it’s time to grab him.
Jackson Jobe, Tigers (34%): The former top pitching prospect in all of baseball is expected to make his MLB return from Tommy John surgery on Saturday. Expect his outings to be short (three innings or less) this season, but it will give him a leg up for a 2027 rotation spot. His control so far has been surprisingly good. We will see if he can maintain control of his three best pitches (fastball, curveball and changeup).
Aaron Nola, Phillies (53%): People don’t wanna hear it, but Nola has been better peripherally than in the box score. He has a pretty decent 16% K-BB% with a 3.46 JA SIERA. A hugely elevated HR/FB (24%) has hurt him time and time again. But he sets up for matchus with the Blue Jays, Twins, and Marlins in his next three. That should help lower the home run problem.
Christian Scott, Mets (62%): Well over the 50% owned marked, but I wanted to tell you that I really believe in the dude. A nice 51% Strike% that has generated a huge 29% K%, and he’s striking out both sides of the plate at the same rate. Impressive stuff, and the results are going to come soon enough.
Walbert Urena, Angels (66%): Also well over our threshold, but I think Urena should be pretty much 100% owned at this point. Go get him if you can.
