When you use actual decent ownership rates, and you’re 3+ weeks into the season, it gets tough to find true high-potential waiver wire adds. We’re mostly picking up dudes who will play a good amount (70%+ of the time) and give you either a good amount of one or two things, or a mediocre amount of a bunch of things.
That’s where we’re at. I don’t think there are more than a few guys below who have any real shot to give you long-term smash value. But we did some digging, and the names we’ve come up with are below.
As always, there’s more detail and explanations of each guy in the pod. I’m just giving you the names below to scan over.

Deep League Pitcher Targets
JT Ginn (ATH)
Walker Buehler (SD)
Sean Burke (CWS)
Joel Kuhnel (ATH)
don’t spend significant resources on him, we don’t believe in him as an actually good reliever, but he is the guy with the saves for the A’s so far
Stashes
Robby Snelling (MIA)
he pitches in AAA tonight (Friday), but if he continues to dominate, a call-up shouldn’t be too far away
Payton Tolle (BOS)
messing around with a cutter and sinker in AAA, good potentially be difference-makers, and he’s probably one injury away from getting into the Red Sox rotation
Chase Petty (CIN)
Didier Fuentes (ATL)
still throwing a ton of four-seamers, but it’s a really good one
Jonah Tong (NYM)
getting strikeouts, but a high BB% and four homers allowed already in AAA
Thomas White (MIA)
we think he’s behind Snelling on the depth chart, but he’s one of the most talented arms in the minor leagues
Hagen Smith (CWS)
AAA numbers are elite so far, but John Allen isn’t a fan after a closer look
Waiver Wire Review From Last Week
Shallow League Hits
Jeffrey Springs, Athletics: Starting pitcher showed he is not afraid of pitching in Sacramento this week. Could this be a return to his career-year of 2022 when he had a 2.46 ERA for the 33-year-old?
Dillon Dingler, Tigers: Scored three and driven in four in the past week.
Shallow League Misses
Eduardo Rodriguez, Diamondbacks: Bloom may be off the rose as Rodriguez looked more like the pitcher you could not afford to roster, instead of the guy who shut down Team USA in the WBC.
Noelvi Marte, Reds: Buy low candidate will be even lower after the Reds sent the former infielder turned outfielder to Triple A.
Deep League Hits
Colin Rea, Cubs: Seamlessly has moved into the Cubs rotation for Cade Horton, picking up his second straight win and going six innings, striking out five and walking none. Steady production is what you hope for.
Steven Matz, Rays: K-rate continues to surge after striking out seven Yankees over five innings. This is the time to sell high.
Foster Griffin, Nationals: Has faced the Phillies, Dodgers and Brewers and has a 1.76 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. A 5.09 xERA and 4.40 xFIP tell a story that screams sell high.
Deep League Misses
Cade Cavalli, Nationals: A lot of experts felt the former first-round pick could be a sleeper this year, two years removed from TJ. A 17.6% K-rate and 16.2% walk rate says otherwise.
