Last Week’s Waiver Wire Review

Shallow League Hits

Landen Roupp, Giants: Despite a career ERA higher at home than on the road, the 27-year-old Roupp continued the strong start to his 2026 season at home against the Dodgers. Roupp was lacking control (5 BBs) but fought through five innings, allowing just one hit and one run. Roupp threw a season-high 106 pitches to get the 15 outs, 7 on strikeouts.

Jeff McNeil, Athletics, and Jac Caglianone, Royals: Obviously our words make a difference for these two. Both hit their first home runs of the season this week.

Dean Kremer, Orioles: Despite starting the season in the minors, Kremer went six innings in his second MLB start, allowing two hits, walking two and giving up three runs (all earned). But he struck out seven and is earning a place in fantasy rotations as injuries hit elsewhere.

Shallow League Misses

Connor Norby, Marlins: The Miami infielder must be the Fight Club of waiver wire picks – first rule is you don’t talk about Fight Club (or Connor Norby). The former Orioles prospect has gone 3-for-19 with no runs or RBI since we said his name.

Carmen Mlodzinski, Pirates: After 11.1 scoreless innings, the 27-year-old threw a stinker against the Rangers. Mlodzinski gave up five runs (all earned) in 4.1 innings on six hits and two walks. He did strike out six and got to a season-high 93 pitches.

Deep League Hits

Jeremiah Jackson, Orioles: Regardless of his play, the big news of the week for Jackson was the guy he is replacing, Jackson Holliday, has not recovered from his Feb. hamate bone injury and is going to miss an extended period of time. That’s more playing time for Jeremiah who has a streak of hits in 10 of his past 12 games.

Jacob Young, Nationals: Young got a hit in five straight games (7-for-23) after we talked about his surprising power this season. He also drove in four, putting him on pace to more than double (78) his career high of 36 RBI in 150 games in 2024.

Deep League Misses

Joel Kuhnel, Athletics: The journeyman reliever is the worst kind of miss because we told you to not spend big on him. Since we last spoke, he has a save but it was of a scary kind with 5 of his 10 pitches turning into fly balls. Three were outs, two were hits and he gave up a run in getting his fourth save of 2026. Two days later, he only needed to go two-thirds of an inning before giving up the winning run.
