2027 fantasy baseball news from around the league, a Grok Bot integration
Notes — Nov 6 (and since Nov 5 ~2 PM EST)
1. Jake Bloss – Blue Jays
Toronto received a fourth option year on Jake Bloss, letting the club keep him as optional Triple-A rotation depth in 2027 without waivers. Shi Davidi notes Bloss is pitching in the Arizona Fall League after 2025 UCL surgery and a later teres major strain; Brendon Little and Jonatan Clase are among Blue Jays out of options next year.
2. Levi Stoudt – Rays
Marc Topkin reported Tampa Bay signed Levi Stoudt to a minor-league deal with a Spring Training invite. Stoudt threw 22.2 scoreless innings with Phillies affiliates in 2026 (averaging 96 mph in Triple-A with a heavy slider) before a June elbow injury ended his season.
3. Trevor Rogers – Orioles
Roch Kubatko wrote Trevor Rogers is expected to decline Baltimore’s $23.15 million qualifying offer as Mike Elias hunts a No. 1 starter upgrade behind Kyle Bradish and Shane Baz. Kubatko also said Cade Povich is recovered from an elbow cleanup and Enrique Bradfield Jr. is expected on the 40-man later this month with a debut path.
4. Akil Baddoo – Pirates
After a Nov. 2 waiver claim from Milwaukee, Akil Baddoo told Jason Mackey his left quad “feels amazing.” He is out of options for 2027 and competing for outfield depth after a .252/.818 OPS with 11 homers at Triple-A Nashville in a 66-game 2026.
5. Tai Peete – Cardinals
Tai Peete tied the Arizona Fall League single-game stolen-base record with four steals, has 17 steals this fall, and is in Saturday’s AFL Home Run Derby field.
6. Max Scherzer – Free agent (ex-Blue Jays)
Max Scherzer told Jon Heyman he plans to pitch lockout games near his Florida home to gauge whether a 20th MLB season is realistic at age 42 after a strong late-season Blue Jays stretch.
7. Tarik Skubal – Free agent
Early market roundup (Heyman/Passan/McDaniel via MLBTR): Mets and Dodgers viewed as frontrunners; Cubs expected to inquire but may balk north of $300 million; Yankees could engage then trade from surplus starters. Still preliminary — no agreement. Builds on prior Nov. 5 Dodgers-favored chatter with new multi-club detail.
8. Welbyn Francisca – Guardians
Welbyn Francisca is batting .420 with a 1.198 OPS in the Arizona Fall League and was named to the Fall Stars Game.
9. Elian Soto – Nationals
Elian Soto reached base in all six AFL games after a late-October call-up and hit his first Fall League home run Nov. 5 at 103.2 mph exit velocity.
10. Corey Seager – Rangers
Chris Young said 2027 payroll will be “very similar” to ~$193M and Texas will gauge trade interest to reallocate — “trade one player to make yourself stronger in two different spots,” while noting the club does not have to move anybody. Evan Grant frames shopping Corey Seager and Jacob deGrom, perhaps Nathan Eovaldi; all three have full no-trade protection. CF cover remains a priority with Evan Carter out early.
11. Shoki Oda – International (unsigned)
Francys Romero and Chunichi Sports report Japanese HS right-hander Shoki Oda continues MLB meetings (Phillies, Mets, Blue Jays, Cardinals among them). Eligible to sign Jan. 15, 2027 if he bypasses NPB; also drafted first overall by Yomiuri. Touches ~97 mph with a deep mix.
12. Arjun Nimmala – Angels
Arjun Nimmala has 10 extra-base hits in AFL play after a two-run double (MLB Pipeline).
13. Breyson Guedez – Athletics
Nineteen-year-old Breyson Guedez is drawing AFL attention for contact quality and makeup despite a slow .175/.288/.228 start through 15 games (109.3 mph max EV).
Recent notes — Nov 1–5 (missed prior digest)
14. Mitchell Parker – Braves
(Nov. 2) Atlanta claimed Mitchell Parker off waivers from Washington. Grade 3 left UCL tear; internal-brace surgery in July; MLBTR says he is likely to miss at least half of 2027.
15. Pierson Ohl – Mets
(Nov. 2) New York claimed Pierson Ohl off waivers from Colorado. Missed 2026 after late-February Tommy John; began throwing in August with a 2027 return target and full options remaining.
16. Brett Harris – Phillies
(Nov. 2) Philadelphia claimed Brett Harris (out of options) and Shay Whitcomb (still has an option) off waivers from San Francisco for infield depth after losing Luis Arraez, Alec Bohm and Edmundo Sosa to free agency.
17. Shay Whitcomb – Phillies
(Nov. 2) Claimed with Harris; 2024–25 Triple-A power/speed track record (50 HR, 42 SB across those years) but a softer 2026 PCL line.
18. Kenley Jansen – Free agent (ex-Tigers)
(Nov. 2–3) Detroit declined Kenley Jansen’s $12M option ($2M buyout), picked up Drew Anderson’s $10M option, and re-signed Jacob Waguespack to a one-year MLB deal — leaving the Tigers without an established closer.
19. Carlos Estévez – Free agent (ex-Royals)
(Oct. 29) Kansas City declined Carlos Estévez’s $13M option after September right-shoulder/rotator-cuff surgery and exercised Tony Gonsolin’s $2.5M option.
20. Andrés Muñoz – Mariners
(Oct. 29) Seattle exercised Andrés Muñoz’s $9M option; declined Bryce Miller’s $6.075M option (still arbitration-controlled through 2029) and Victor Robles’s $9M option (free agent); also claimed Grant McCray.
21. Michael Arroyo – Mariners
(Oct. 30) Michael Arroyo had an elbow scope to clean cartilage and brace a chronic UCL issue; club targets April game action.
22. Gunnar Henderson – Orioles
(Nov. 3) Andy Kostka: Baltimore is open to offers on nearly everyone except Pete Alonso while seeking rotation/outfield/catcher upgrades; Gunnar Henderson only for a blown-away package; also listening on 3B surplus and possibly Ryan Helsley/Félix Bautista.
23. Demetrio Crisantes – Diamondbacks
(Nov. 5 morning feature) Arizona’s No. 1 prospect is in the AFL mainly for second-base defensive reps after a left-shoulder-limited 2026. Same piece: Patrick Forbes (sweeper/changeup with mid-90s FB), Justin Martinez (Dominican Winter League innings), Luke Craig (AFL rust-buster after Tommy John).
24. Rudy Martin Jr. – Blue Jays
(Nov. 5 morning) Re-signed to a minor-league deal with a Spring Training invite after electing free agency; .274/.394/.421 with 45 SB in 369 minor-league PA in 2026 plus a September MLB debut.
25. Vidal Brujan – Braves
(Nov. 1) Signed a minor-league deal with Atlanta for Gwinnett/spring depth after a 113 wRC+ Triple-A season with 16 stolen bases.
