Early ADP Tiers: Outfield, Part 2
Part two of early ADP tiers!
Other positions covered so far:
This will be a longer one, because I’m going to cover the rest of the top 400 in ADP. 64 names are covered here, so I won’t be able to comment on each one. But remember, I am talking about each player in depth during the team previews series.
Tier 13
Jakob Marsee
Ceddanne Rafaela
Dylan Crews
Taylor Ward
Steven Kwan
Brenton Doyle
I went over Jakob Marsee in the Marlins preview, which will be out soon. My model is crazy high on him. So much so that I’ve had to cool it down manually. But the guy makes contact, has some power, and steals a bunch of bags. The raw skills make me think my projection will still end up being much too high, but this is where it lands. And drafters are pretty interested in him as well, with a top 150 ADP.
The other two guys that I like a lot in this tier are Dylan Crews and Brenton Doyle. And you can click those names to read my full thoughts on them as those two team previews are already published.
Favorites: Crews, Doyle
Tier 14
Jurickson Profar
Ian Happ
Addison Barger
Sal Frelick
Bryan Reynolds
Jasson Dominguez
Mike Trout
Alec Burleson
Bryan Reynolds and Ian Happ are forever linked via ADP. They almost always go right by each other in drafts. It’s that boring veteran outfielder player type. You know you aren’t getting much ceiling/upside with that pick, but you know they’ll play a lot and put up decent numbers. Jurickson Profar, Sal Frelick, and Alec Burleson fit that bill as well. You aren’t getting any big numbers from any of these guys, but they’ll “volume their way” to fantasy value.
And this is how far we’ve come on Mike Trout. A 200 ADP after a relatively healthy season. That’s what happens when you hit .232 with just two steals in a given year after turning 34. The glory days are over. We not only have the injury concern, but now we’re starting to think that he’s a pretty replaceable player even while he’s healthy.
Jasson Dominguez is still like 16 years old or something. It hasn’t gone all that well for him in the Majors so far:
→ 529 PA, .248/.327/.397, 16 HR, 29 SB
But he’s 22 at the time of this writing, coming off of his first full MLB season. The power + speed is there. It’s possible that this is the last time you’ll be able to draft him after pick 200. He’d probably be my favorite target from this tier if you’re going for some upside.
Favorites: Profar, Reynolds, Dominguez
