Early ADP Tiers: Starting Pitcher, Part 4
Opening up our look at early ADP for SPs!
Other positions covered so far:
Part three took us through tier 14, 69 pitchers covered. So we pick it up there, and we’ll finish SPs out in this piece. I’m covering like 150 picks in ADP in here, and I will just be picking out the names of the most interest to me for commentary.
Tier 15
Noah Cameron
Jack Leiter
Casey Mize
By now, you’re really having problems. The names we’ll see from now are either pitchers that haven’t pitched well in the Major Leagues, young prospects, or guys that aren’t going to be healthy at the beginning of the year.
NOAH CAMERON had an interesting rookie season last year.
He isn’t much of a strikeout guy (12.6% SwStr%, 20.4% K%), but he throws plenty of quality strikes and mostly kept away from the barrel last year (.318 xwOBA). He threw more than 160 innings next year, so he seems like a pretty decent option for volume and non-awful WHIP.
CASEY MIZE, man! He’s back again. The guy had the best K% of his career (by a good margin) but still reached just a league-average mark of 22.2%. His 1.3 HR/9 and lack of anything good in the pitch besides the splitter took him to a poor 4.02 ERA with the 3.77 JA ERA. If you’re looking for volume guys that can get outs in the Majors, he’s a good option. But he is certainly no upside option.
JACK LEITER might have some of that upside, but a double-digit walk rate and 38% GB% make him a super volatile guy that can do a lot of damage to fantasy squads in a hurry. He does have a big fastball, which is always nice to build off of. But the secondaries have been garbage to this point.
Tier 16
Bailey Ober
Quinn Priester
Jonah Tong
Reese Olson
Kodai Senga
Parker Messick
Shane Smith
I’ve already been through the Twins and White Sox in the team previews, so I know a bit more about those guys. I really liked what I saw in SHANE SMITH.
