Early ADP Tiers: Second Base
A quick look at the 2B position using early ADP data and projections
Here’s a look at little standard roto value cheat sheet I’ve cooked up. We’ll review the top 11 at the position in this screenshot:
That’s four tiers by ADP, and it’s everybody inside of the top 200.
I have a cheat sheet like this for every position. Paid subs can access that below the paywall if you scroll down a bit.
I’m opening a series here where we get familiar with each position based on what the early drafts are giving us. This ADP and the rankings and projections and tiers will change as we get closer to March, but the anchors are being laid, and we can get some kicks out of looking it over.
Below, I went through and gave super quick thoughts on everybody. Now is not the time for detailed analysis; that all comes in the team previews series.
Tier One
Jazz Chisholm Jr.
There will be no disputing the top 2B option this year. Jazz hit 31 homers and stole 31 bases. He will be 2B/3B eligible everywhere, but you’ll be using him at 2B initially because the position is so bad. He’s gone steal-crazy over the last two seasons with 71 of them. The criticism would be a high K% (28% last year), but he’s heading into a contract year in Yankees Stadium, so as long as he stays healthy, he’ll be the same fantasy baseball stud he’s been for most of his career.
Tier Two
Ketel Marte
Brice Turang
Ketel Marte played 126 games last year and added 28 homers to his tally. Not a fully healthy season, but he was in there to return another nice fantasy season. His calling card has been the batting average with his high .281 career mark. The power has shown up pretty nicely the last three years as well (25, 36, and 28 homers these last three). You’ll get a handful of steals and good counting stat production, but he had just two seasons in his career playing 150 games, so you’ll usually have a couple of weeks where you’re without him.
